Dr. Callwood offers individual psychotherapy to adults and individuals in higher education. She utilizes her Caribbean-American lived experience to inform her clinical work with historically marginalized and oppressed individuals. Her integrative approach to psychotherapy draws from a variety of perspectives including CBT, DBT, and humanistic-existential within a social justice framework. Dr. Callwood emphasizes the importance of a strong client-clinician therapeutic relationship that fosters individuals’ deeper awareness and understanding of self and the world around them to promote growth and resilience. She also specializes in treating BIPOC populations. Dr. Callwood earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in African and Caribbean mental health from William James College and completed her doctoral project on young Black men’s experiences of aggressive policing. Dr. Callwood has extensive training in counseling centers within small private colleges, Ivy League universities and Big-Ten universities. She completed her APA-accredited internship training at Michigan State University Counseling and Psychiatric Services.
