Sharon Boivin is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing since 1996. She graduated from California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) with a masters and a Ph.D in clinical psychology. Her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is also in psychology. Dr. Boivin believes in an integrated approach to treatment and working collaboratively with patients to set treatment goals. She often uses individualized homework to help those who feel stuck or overwhelmed. Her main areas of focus are: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT); Substance use/Co-occurring disorders – informed by 12-step principles; and Mindfulness Techniques. She primarily sees adult individuals but does see some couples and adolescents. She works effectively with most diagnoses, except anger issues, behavior problems or oppositional defiant patients. She also refers those seeking family therapy to MFT providers who have specialized training in that area. In her spare time, she enjoys exercise, the outdoors, quality time with friends and the antics of her rescue dog.
