Jason Schmotzer, PsyD

Dr. Schmotzer is a licensed psychologist offering psychotherapy for older adolescents, adults, and couples with nearly twenty years of licensed clinical experience. He utilizes an integrated approach to therapy that draws from Rogerian client centered, psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT,) and functional contextual based cognitive therapies. At his core Dr. Schmotzer believes the therapy process should be centered around and driven by you. He seeks to facilitate your work towards achieving your unique and personal goals recognizing how different that can be for the many and diverse people that seek therapy. He works to create a non-judgmental space where the sometimes-challenging journey of therapy finds balance in never forgetting that it is your session, at your pace, and seeking to establish you as the expert in your own life.

Dr. Schmotzer enjoys the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people from a vast assortment of backgrounds who may be struggling with an array of symptoms and stressors believing that first and foremost we are people, not diagnoses, nor must we be defined by our struggles. His professional career thus far has reflected this generalist approach having a breadth of experience rather than specialization.

Dr. Schmotzer earned his doctorate in psychology from Nova Southeastern University completing his pre-doctoral internship at the Faulk Center for Group Counseling and post-doctoral work at Florida Tech. He was the first psychologist at Baptist Behavioral Health in Jacksonville, Florida to integrate into a primary care office as the practice sought ways to improve accessibility of care and is excited to now practice on the frontier of the TeleHealth platform, as he believes this can provide unparalleled access to care that will promote greater well-being to many who might not have otherwise been able or comfortable seeking psychotherapy.
