Dr. Merlis provides evidenced based for adolescents (16 and up) and adults/older adults. Her areas of specialty include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, reproductive challenges ( infertility, miscarriage, high-risk or premature birth, and postpartum depression), stress-related disorders (e.g. headache, chronic pain, IBS, insomnia, hypertension), health-behavior/life style changes, geriatrics, substance abuse, and trauma/PTSD. Dr. Merlis utilizes a variety of modalities depending on clients needs including cognitive- behavioral (CBT), Acceptance and Committment Therapy ( ACT), stress-management /relaxation techniques, mindfulness based interventions, somatic therapy, biofeedback, Dialetical Behavior Therapy ( DBT), and motivational interviewing. Dr. Merlis also conducts ADHD and ADD evaluations for adults.
