April Barnes is an LPC, LMFT, NCC, MS, RPT. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Counseling, May 2009, from Shorter University. She earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Walden University in February 2015. She has also completed coursework to obtain an Marriage and Family Licensure. She became a Licensed Professional Associate Counselor in July of 2015. She later became a fully Licensed Professional counselor in September of 2018 and a Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor in December of 2018.

Ms. Barnes strives to assist her clients in understanding the relationship between thoughts, moods, and subsequent behaviors. She strives to empower her clients to identify, challenge, and change thoughts that often lead to anxiety and depression, develop healthy coping skills and communication patterns, and understand the importance of emotions and how they assist in understanding the way we interpret our circumstances and interact with others. Her main area of focus includes depression, trauma and anxiety, and behavioral concerns in children.

In her spare time, Ms. Barnes enjoys ballroom dancing, reading a good book, and going to the movies.
