Thomas Hamel, LCSW,
About Thomas Hamel (He/Him)
Thomas Hamel helps adults throughout Massachusetts navigate life’s challenges with confidence, resilience, and renewed purpose. As a therapist at LifeStance Health, he provides individualized mental health care in a supportive and collaborative environment where clients can explore concerns openly and work toward meaningful change. Thomas works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional difficulties, helping them develop practical skills to improve daily functioning, strengthen relationships, and enhance overall well-being.
Thomas is particularly passionate about helping individuals through grief, midlife transitions, and later-life transitions. Major life changes can bring uncertainty, loss, and questions about identity or purpose. Whether a client is coping with the loss of a loved one, adjusting to retirement, navigating changing family roles, or facing a significant life crossroads, Thomas helps clients process these experiences while building resilience and finding new pathways forward.
His therapeutic approach combines evidence-based strategies with a compassionate understanding of each client’s unique story. Thomas utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients manage symptoms, increase self-awareness, and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior. He has experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, military veterans, and first responders. In addition to his primary areas of focus, he provides care for a range of mental health concerns and life challenges.
Since beginning his clinical practice in 2022, Thomas has been committed to delivering thoughtful, client-centered therapy that empowers individuals to achieve their goals. His education at Southern New Hampshire University, Salem State University, and William James College has provided a strong foundation for helping clients create lasting emotional and psychological growth.
Outside of his clinical work, Thomas enjoys training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, spending time walking his dog, and relaxing with a good Netflix series. These interests help him maintain balance and reinforce his appreciation for discipline, connection, and self-care—values that also inform his therapeutic work.
Thomas welcomes adults across Massachusetts who are seeking support for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and other mental health concerns. Through LifeStance Health, he is dedicated to providing evidence-based therapy that helps clients build coping skills, gain insight, and create meaningful, lasting change.
