About Katie Kuzmishin Mast (She/Her)

Katie Kuzmishin Mast is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Therapy (CT), receiving certification through Cleveland’s Center for Cognitive Therapy in 2022. She generally uses an interdisciplinary approach, however, which includes Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centered Counseling, and a systems-approach to identifying and solving problems with clients.

Passionate about working with the emerging adult and adult populations, Katie assists clients in recognizing and addressing unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs that may impede academic success, professional ambitions, social interactions, daily functioning, or family dynamics. Katie emphasizes the importance of balance in life, aiding her clients in achieving harmony between desires and responsibilities, fostering cohesive family units, and promoting individual well-being. Katie has successfully assisted clients in navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief, trauma, bipolar disorder, career questioning, conflict in family, couples concerns, and life changes.

Katie is particularly enthusiastic about helping her clients build resilience and working towards having grace/forgiveness with oneself, as she believes these traits are foundational to achieving balance and happiness in life. Katie’s interest in the development of resilience began many years ago when she shadowed a clinical psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center. Put simply, Katie was amazed and humbled by the fierce determination of the clients faced with such hardship. This passion for resilience and grace continued throughout college and was reflected in her undergraduate thesis work, which focused on the development of resilience in college students. Katie followed this ardent belief and call to assist in resilience development by working at a crisis shelter for teens in Summit County, OH. Together, these experiences have shaped Katie’s joy and passion for working with her clients.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Alec, and their two cats, Leon and Lola. Katie is an avid reader and always values a book recommendation. While she is hesitant to admit it, Katie also enjoys a lazy weekend spent playing PC games. In a desperate attempt to fill her influx of time during COVID lockdown, Katie taught herself how to crochet and fell in love with trashy reality tv.
