As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Kathy enjoys working

with clients across a range of ages and stages. Prior to becoming a counselor, Kathy acquired 15+ years of experience as a certified parent educator with CHADD and the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP),

where she taught parenting classes and worked with parents to adopt a

positive discipline approach and develop tools and strategies to promote

cooperation, peacefulness and mutual respect in the family.

Kathy integrates neuroscience and an understanding of mind/brain/body

unity to help clients to regulate their emotions, express anger in a

healthy way and prevent disproportionate responses. She works with

clients to understand and embrace simple tools and practices to elevate

outlook, relieve stress and reduce anxiety.

As an Adlerian practitioner, Kathy embraces a therapeutic approach that

is both humanistic and goal oriented. Her approach prioritizes a client’s

relationship to and connectedness with others and promotes positive

movement, growth and wellbeing. She brings empathy, positivity, and a

strength-based focus to her collaboration with clients and works with

them to align their emotional and cognitive state with their values. Her

approach employs motivational interviewing to help clients achieve desired behavioral change.

Kathy is a trained crisis worker with previous experience at The

Women’s Center and with the National Suicide Prevention Line.

Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, practicing

yoga, biking and hiking the trails along the Potomac River.

The original booking went smoothly and subsequent meetings do as well -- whether I do an in-person (preferred) or video; Lifestance handles it like a champ. I have been working with Kathy for 6 months now. I find it very easy to share with Kathy and know that I can trust her and will receive helpful and appropriate feedback. Overall, she is a wonderful human being and a highly skilled counselor. She has never been judgmental or unkind, or made me feel diminished - ever. I feel like she is really reaching me, am hopeful and enjoying my progress, thus far. I highly recommend her!
