Take The SurveyWhat is Treatment-Resistant Depression and how can it be treated?
Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) refers to patients with Major Depressive Disorder who have had an inadequate response to 2 or more oral antidepressants.
Treatment Strategies for TRD
Depression varies from person to person and a treatment that eases depression for one patient may not work for another. For patients with TRD, it can take several tries with different approaches to find the right treatment. Options include:
- Switching to a different type of antidepressant
- Adding an additional type of medication to an antidepressant
- Using a procedural-based therapy such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
