Jordan Parmenter is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado who has been practicing since 2019. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado – Greeley. As a therapist, Jordan would define herself as being relational – in that, she focuses heavily on building a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship with her clients.
Jordan truly feels that having a strong therapeutic alliance is imperative for evoking changes that a client wants to see. Jordan feels that she builds relationships by being her genuine and authentic self and in turn, modeling to her clients that showing up as their genuine and authentic selves is enough and meaningful. Jordan also loves to meet clients where they are at by tailoring treatment to their needs (because not everyone is the same, right?). Jordan feels that this model of thinking helps build a treatment plan that is unique, responsive to a client’s needs and highlights their uniqueness along with all their strengths and sources of resiliency.
As a mixed girl, culture and diversity surround Jordan and heavily (and positively) influence her world – both how she sees it and how she decides to show up in it. DEI work is a passion of hers and motivates her to continuously reflect and be self-aware both in and out of work. In her work as a therapist, Jordan strives to operate from an inclusivity lens that helps her advocate for her clients, while also modeling and supporting clients to advocate for themselves and their needs.
Jordan hopes that as her client, you feel heard, validated, and celebrated for you who are. With all that being said, here are some specific forms of therapy that Jordan enjoys utilizing with her clients: traditional talk therapy (very therapeutic in of itself), art and creative-expressive therapy, narrative therapy, DBT, TF-CBT, gender-affirming care, multiculturalism, motivational interviewing, IPT, trauma-informed care, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, and CBT.
Outside of work, Jordan thoroughly enjoys spending time engaging in Kpop! BTS is her ult group and she also loves Seventeen, Ateez and Twice! Otherwise, you can catch her watching WWE, AEW, RuPaul’s Drag Race or anything on Bravo. Jordan and her dog, Cinnamon are introverts, so they usually enjoy their time at home – but when they are feeling a bit more social, they enjoy hanging out with friends and family.
