Alyssa Rautenberg, MD

Dr. Rautenberg provides care for adults representing a variety of genders, sexual orientations, and racial and cultural backgrounds. She provides individual psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management.

Her approach to treatment centers around empathic and open-minded listening. She strives to understand the whole person, including each individual’s relationships, socio-cultural identities, and past experiences, in order to help her patients better understand themselves and make the changes they wish to make in their lives.

Dr. Rautenberg works with patients who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, identity formation, relationship issues, life transitions, grief and more.

Dr. Rautenberg’s approach to psychotherapy is primarily psychodynamic / psychoanalytic, and is also informed by her training in cognitive-behavioral therapies. When psychiatric medications are considered, she uses a collaborative approach, working with each individual to make shared treatment decisions. She values exploring each patient’s goals, while carefully weighing risks, benefits, and alternatives to medication.

Dr. Rautenberg received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency training at Harvard Medical School / Cambridge Health Alliance, where she served as Chief Resident of Psychotherapy. She is currently completing advanced training in Psychoanalysis at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and is a Teaching Associate at Harvard Medical School / Cambridge Health Alliance.
