Holly Ameen, MA, LPC
Specializes In:
Holly Ameen is a licensed professional counselor who has 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at James Madison University in 2001 and Master’s degree from Marymount University in 2005. Holly feels confident working with clients who have complex mental health or behavioral challenges. Therapy modalities used in treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy and animal assisted therapy. Holly’s theoretical orientation is person centered with the existential belief that clients will take ownership for positive change when they feel emotionally supported during the therapeutic process. Not only is individual psychotherapy important but often times, family engagement is also recommended to provide additional collaboration. She uses unique creative interventions along with an optimistic attitude to motivate the more resistant or guarded client. Having a genuine regard for providing best possible care and working with clients to gain a sense of self actualization are integral components of Holly’s core values when providing therapy. Clients are encouraged to better understand their mental health, how they relate to their social world, and what it takes to maintain psychological well being.
