INTERVENTIONS: Dr. Landis specializes in providing psychoeducation specifically geared toward stress and anger management, impulse control, emotional regulation, positive reframing, developing coping skills, and enhancing general personal awareness (via examining the patient’s internal versus external locus of control). Josh utilizes his background to inform his clinical judgment and delivery of psychological interventions to treat mental health disorders, while maintaining dignity and respect for patients. THEORECTICAL ORIENTATION: Dr. Landis utilizes a range of empirically supported, evidence-based treatment modalities that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness (relaxation/breathing techniques), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Positive Psychology. CLIENT APPROACH: Josh works collaboratively with clients to help them address their presenting concerns and improve their quality-of-life and overall wellbeing. He works to individualize each client’s unique treatment needs, while helping them own their goals, treatment, changes, and progress. He believes much of the success in therapy stems from the therapeutic alliance, and Dr. Landis works to creatively develop rapport with each client based on their uniqueness. He believes the client and therapist should work together as a team towards the goals decided upon in therapy. His desire is that all clients feel heard, understood, and respected without judgement. Dr. Landis endeavors to facilitate a healthy environment that encourages compassion, growth, and positive change.
