Specializes In:
Michelle Wheeler is a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina who has been practicing since 2016. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Public Health/Epidemiology from Morris College and received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. The journey of a thousand miles begins with that first step. Michelle is glad you’re taking this first step. She has experience in working with families, children, adolescents, and adults with varying challenges and mental health diagnoses. Michelle is interested in working with a wide range of mental health concerns as she works to provide a safe space for clients to feel comfortable and welcome in sharing their concerns. Michelle also developed her knowledge base working with children, adolescents, and families extensively while working with community agencies that provide support to families and children in therapeutic foster care experiencing PTSD from traumatic situations and families experiencing difficulties. Her experience also extends into dealing with the challenges that are unique to the military family and working with couples in therapy. Michelle uses different types of therapies that may vary based on her client’s preference and need including play therapy for the little ones. She most often uses solution focused and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapies with her clients. However, the type of therapy will be tailored on the needs of her client. She has a passion for helping clients find the answers that are within themselves to determine how they want to grow or make change in their lives. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys cooking, decorating, art and history, and watching movies.
