Daniel Burhans helps patients across Colorado stabilize symptoms, regain confidence, and move forward with effective psychiatric medication management tailored to their needs. Practicing at LifeStance Health, he partners with children, adolescents, teens, and adults to address mental health concerns with a thoughtful, evidence-based approach that balances clinical precision with compassion for each person’s experience in Colorado communities. A central focus of Daniel’s work is supporting individuals who have been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital. He is especially passionate about helping patients transition safely back into daily life, reducing the risk of relapse, and building continuity of care after inpatient treatment. This includes careful medication management, close monitoring of symptoms, and collaboration around realistic goals that promote long-term stability and recovery. Daniel specializes in treating ADHD, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, and trauma-related conditions. His areas of focus include anxiety, childhood and adolescent behavioral concerns, and sleep-related difficulties, while also offering additional support across a wide range of mental health conditions. He provides medication management and integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)–informed strategies and mindfulness-based approaches to help patients better understand symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and improve overall functioning. He treats children and adolescents, including teens, as well as adults across the lifespan, and has experience working with select populations such as military and veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals, and patients with autism spectrum disorders, in addition to others. His clinical style emphasizes clear communication, collaborative decision-making, and respect for each patient’s background and goals. Outside of clinical work, Daniel enjoys cooking, hiking, skiing, attending concerts, listening to podcasts, and reading—interests that help him stay balanced and connected.

See what our patients are saying about Daniel Burhans

Dr. Burhans is really personable, even though he has the daunting task of grilling first time patients with a zillion questions. I've seen him twice, now, and he's made some very caring and helpful lifestyle suggestions, to address me as a whole person, rather than just throwing more medication at me. Heads up: Lifestance didn't tell me which floor (5th) or suite number my visit was in or that their was construction surrounding the building. I was already running a bit late to my first appointment and initially passed up the building and entrance, because they were kind of hidden from the street level. That for sure cranked up my anxiety. So, please make sure to leave ample time and expect some obstacles, if you're going to the office in Boulder on 29th street. The receptionist is great, though, so things were fine once I found the office. I've generally had a good experience with the customer service team, though their phone system has become a little tricky. I feel that Dr. Burhans is worth giving a try, even if Lifestance is less-than-helpful with some of the finer details.
