Tammy Denny-Smith is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Georgia and seasoned in both medical and mental health domains. She believes in a collaborative approach to care when working with individuals and their families. She feels treatment is more successful when the person is an active participant in their treatment plan. Tammy provides empathetic care to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard and empowered in their journey towards holistic well-being.

Tammy is passionate about participating in the Life is A Ride Charity that benefits Hooves for Hope Therapeutic riding program. This program is for all ages with physical, cognitive, social, and emotional challenges. The program can benefit children and adults with a wide range of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down’s Syndrome, MS, Spina Bifida, PTSD, and a wide range of behavioral disorders. The program encourages self-growth and character development through a partnership built with equine therapy. There is a veterans program, Operation Hope, that promotes healing and builds confidence for those individuals who have served our country.

From an academic standpoint, Tammy graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing and started her career as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2004. After working in Family Medicine for 13 years, she went to work in an outpatient mental health clinic treating adults struggling with mental health issues, addiction, incarcerated individuals, and military veterans. She graduated from Washburn University’s Post Master’s Program in 2019 and became Board-Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Tammy loves spending time with family and friends, riding horses, camping, hiking, and enjoying nature.

I always enjoy talking to Tammy. She went out of her way to call different pharmacies to see if they had my prescription since they’ve been difficult to come by. She comes across as caring and waiting to help any way she can.
