Debra Nelson, PMHNP, helps patients in Indiana navigate mental health challenges with compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she provides medication management services tailored to adolescents, young adults, and adults, including those navigating significant life transitions, stressors, or chronic mental health conditions. Debra works closely with individuals to ensure they feel supported, heard, and empowered throughout their care journey. She welcomes patients from diverse backgrounds and is especially attuned to the needs of first responders, military veterans, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Debra is especially passionate about supporting individuals coping with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, trauma, and perinatal mental health challenges. She brings a trauma-informed lens to her care, supporting patients through postpartum depression, eating disorders, OCD, and sleep disturbances. Debra provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care that honors each person’s lived experience, while also guiding them toward emotional resilience and sustainable wellness.

With a strong background in trauma-informed nursing and perinatal care, Debra’s clinical approach is shaped by years of experience as a Forensic Nurse Examiner. This work deepened her commitment to holistic healing that addresses the emotional, physical, and psychological aspects of each patient’s story. She believes in creating a therapeutic space where people can explore their experiences without judgment, and she works collaboratively to develop care plans that meet each patient’s unique goals and needs.

Outside of her work at LifeStance Health, Debra finds balance through time spent in nature, travel, live music, and exploring historical sites. These personal passions help her remain grounded and reflect the same sense of curiosity and self-care she encourages in those she works with.
