Janet Zalanskas, PMHNP, helps adults across Maine improve their day-to-day quality of life through accurate diagnosis, thoughtful psychiatric evaluation, and personalized medication management. As a prescriber at LifeStance Health, she partners with patients to better understand their symptoms and develop treatment plans that support lasting wellness. Janet works with young adults, adults, and older adults, providing care for a wide range of mental health concerns while focusing on helping patients find medications that are both effective and well-tolerated. With more than two decades of clinical experience, Janet has extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder, while also supporting individuals facing ADHD, PTSD, sleep disorders, grief, and other mental health challenges. She believes successful treatment begins with careful listening and a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s unique circumstances, goals, and health history. Janet is especially passionate about helping individuals navigate complex mental health conditions that affect daily functioning, relationships, and overall well-being. She works closely with patients experiencing anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD, using a collaborative and evidence-based approach to medication management. Her goal is to reduce symptoms, improve emotional stability, and help patients feel more confident and engaged in their lives. She also has experience supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, first responders, and military veterans. In addition to her primary areas of expertise, Janet provides care for a broad range of concerns, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, eating disorders, postpartum depression and anxiety, pain-related conditions, and other behavioral health needs. Janet earned her education from the University of Southern Maine and the University of New Hampshire. Since beginning her practice in 2004, she has remained committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care grounded in clinical excellence and respect for each individual’s experience. Outside of work, Janet enjoys travel, music, video games, knitting, and spending time with friends. She values maintaining balance and connection in her own life and encourages patients to identify meaningful activities that support their mental health and resilience.
