Laurie Ferrer, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, Psychiatry in Columbia, Missouri

She is especially passionate about supporting patients who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and those involved in court ordered treatment. Laurie offers thoughtful, steady care for people who need help staying connected to treatment after a higher level of care, as well as those facing complex psychiatric challenges that require close follow-up and individualized medication support.

Her practice also includes care for alcohol and drug use issues, eating disorders, and psychosis and schizophrenia, along with related concerns such as grief and medical conditions that affect mental health. Laurie also brings experience supporting autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, first responders, head injuries, LGBTQ+ patients, and military veterans, with treatment rooted in clinical expertise and respect for each patient’s lived experience. She uses evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness alongside medication management when appropriate.

Outside of work, Laurie enjoys rare plants and gardening and cares for more than 400 indoor plants. She also likes reading and listening to music.
