Dr. Piyush C. Patel is a board-certified Psychiatrist practicing in the Atlanta area since 2005.

He received his medical degree from the  N.H.L Municipal Medical College, Gujarat university of India, completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency from East Tennessee State University-James H. Quillen College of Medicine, and completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training from Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Patel uses a bio-psycho-social approach for evaluation and treatment.  Dr. Patel believes in empowering patients with multiple treatment options including therapy, medications if necessary, and other complementary treatments. He focuses on therapeutic relationships that enhance patients’ awareness of their own challenges, to improve long-term outcomes.

In his spare time, he is active in volunteering for various charitable events, and health fairs in the local community, and enjoy traveling to mountains and lakes.

I’ve only had one appointment with Dr. Patel so far, but it was a really positive experience. He made me feel comfortable right away and took the time to listen without judgment. I felt genuinely heard and understood, which is something I really value when talking about anxiety and depression. Even after just one session, I walked away feeling more hopeful and supported. I’m looking forward to continuing care with him, and I’m really glad I took that first step.

I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Patel and the care provided for my child. After searching for several years and trying various child/adolescent psychiatrists to help diagnose and treat, Dr. Patel finally provided explanation for his diagnosis, how various medications interact on a chemical level, and basic behavioral changes that would optimize our treatment plan. Very personable.

Dr. Patel is is excellent. He explains things clearly, actually listens, and doesn’t rush you. I really appreciate how transparent he is about how medications work, what to expect, what the risks/side effects are, and why he’s recommending a specific option. Highly recommend.

I have had a great experience with Dr Piyush and the staff have been extremely responsive. My only suggestion is that if they could not put us on hold and instead do a call back option. Sometimes the wait time is long.
