Faezeh Nassry, MD
Specializes In:
Dr. Nassry is a trained psychiatrist having completed her medical and psychiatric training at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in New York following the completion of her medical education at St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular biology from Simon Fraser University. She combines her training and her innate interpersonal communication skills allowing her to work with ease with a multitude of patients and peers alike serving as an empathetic and knowledgeable psychiatrist. She is often heard saying, “I don’t consider psychiatry ‘work’ per se but rather an opportunity to solve daily challenges alongside my patients.” The cornerstone to her approach is built on her ability to connect with her patients. She prides herself on “taking a good history that includes the biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual aspects of a patient’s life” thus allowing her, in collaboration with the patient, to reach a correct diagnosis and in turn proper treatment plan.
Her approach focuses on collaborative care with patients through psycho-education, various therapy modalities including CBT, Mindfulness-based and exposure therapy and medication management if required. She specializes in depressive/mood, anxiety, psychotic, bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, substance related and addictive, trauma and stress related disorders. Additionally, as Dr. Nassry has lived in four different countries with distinct cultures she has gained a truly unique set of culturally competent skills adding to her sensitivity as well as her spiritual outlook. Through her volunteer and professional experiences she has also cared for and worked with various age groups, including children, teenagers, adults and the geriatric population in community hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and schools as a psychiatrist and a teacher. She is fluent in English and Farsi, and more importantly, happy to serve her patients in helping them achieve their mental wellness goals.
