Kevin Kavookjian, MD

Kevin Kavookjian is a board-certified psychiatrist comfortable treating adults with depression, anxiety, as well as mood and thinking disorders. Dr. Kavookjian’s treatment philosophy is the result of treating thousands of patients over a 14-year career and remains simple: an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan result from collaborative relationships and honest communication with patients and their families. Moreover, he seeks only straightforward medication regimens and therapies to help his patients improve and feel well. Prior to returning to his home state of New Jersey, his most recent work experience in Maine included roles as the outpatient Medical Director at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. There he often treated hospitalized patients utilizing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), a particular clinical focus for over a decade. He also served as the Chief of Psychiatry at Southern-Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, and was the first Medical Director for Health Affiliates of Maine, a statewide mental health agency. Dr. Kavookjian graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine then completed his adult psychiatric training at Stony Brook University Hospital where he served as the Chief Resident.
