Dr. Melanie Barrett received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine following undergraduate studies in Psychology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill, where she served as Chief Resident. She maintains board certification through the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. Dr. Barrett specializes in interventional treatments including Zulresso (brexanolone) for postpartum depression as well as Spravato (esketamine) and ketamine IV therapy for treatment resistant depression. She regularly provides teaching and consultations to medical professionals interested in learning about postpartum depression and Zulresso.

This was an amazing appt! And I have not been saying that about my Dr appts of late, especially regarding my new ADHD diagnosis. I’m late-diagnosed ADHD (this past summer, at age 51) and the struggle has been SO REAL to find an effective medication. My GP referred me to LifeStance for med management & so this was my 2nd appt here and the 1st with Dr. Barrett. (1st was with the PA, Skye Helker, with whom I was also impressed — I was just still maybe too “raw” to feel much hope from my appt with her 3 weeks ago.) After 7 months of defeat and crushed hope, I honestly did not think it possible to have hope on this issue restored until, and unless, a med started working. So for Dr. Barrett to even give me hope before meds was… mind blowing, to be honest. She listened & asked insightful questions. She was awesome. Plus, no one else has offered me ADHD coaching, and that issue was raised at both this, and the initial appointment. So… here’s to hope!

Dr. Barrett is always willing to listen. She gives me good perspective to think about when things are going kind of crazy for me. I have been going to Lifestance and seeing Dr. Barrett for 2 1/2 years. I see Skye Helker every month, and when she has to fill-in for Dr. Barrett. They have all been fantastic to me, including the nurses, Savanah and K.K. Dr. Barrett has a compassionate heart, and she knows what she’s doing. I would not go anywhere else for treatment.

Dr. Barrett really helped me understand the process and what was happening and how it benefits me. All the staff are so nice and pleasant, we appreciate them all. The environment feels safe and relaxing. The accommodations are very comfortable. LifeStance are experts in dealing with insurance, which is very difficult to deal with personally. My health is improving because of LifeStance!

Dr. Barrett is amazing and I’m so grateful to have found her and the team at Lifestance in Edmond. She’s ultra-compassionate, supportive and is by far the most knowledgeable psychiatrist I’ve ever used. She’s a life saver, literally. Also, Jennifer Dunning, PA, is equally awesome. Together they have given me such excellent support and resources to be my strongest self.

A very good experience overall but especially grateful for the individualized care provided. They worked me in when I was in need of expedited attention and I cannot express my gratitude enough! Dr. Barrett was great and Jillian was awesome as well. The aides have been amazing also. I am very thankful for all of you and look forward to continuing my care with you.

It is odd to see so many poor ratings. I see Dr. Barrett weekly & Jennifer Dunning monthly. I always feel like I am important to them. They are kind and caring. The staff goes out of their way to make sure I am comfortable during my Spravato sessions. I have been going here well over a year and don't plan on going anywhere else.
