James Alewine, DO
James Alewine helps adults and seniors across Texas navigate mental health challenges with a thoughtful, evidence-based approach that combines psychiatric expertise and individualized care. As a prescriber at LifeStance Health, he works with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related conditions, helping them develop effective treatment plans that support long-term emotional wellness and improved quality of life. He provides medication management and takes time to understand each patient’s unique experiences, goals, and health history. Dr. Alewine is especially passionate about working with military members, veterans, and individuals affected by trauma spectrum disorders and suicidality. He recognizes the profound impact that trauma can have on emotional, physical, and relational well-being and strives to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard and respected. His work focuses on helping patients build resilience, increase emotional stability, and move forward with greater confidence and hope. In addition to treating trauma-related concerns, Dr. Alewine has experience supporting adults with ADHD, bipolar disorder, and alcohol and drug use issues. He also works with diverse populations, including military/veterans, first responders, and LGBTQ+ individuals. His treatment approach may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with medication management when appropriate. He offers additional support for a wide range of mental health concerns, including sleep disorders, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, and life transitions. Since beginning his clinical practice in 2018, Dr. Alewine has remained committed to helping patients achieve meaningful progress through compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care. His educational background includes training at Texas A&M University, Tulane University, and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Alewine enjoys spending quality time with his family, which helps him maintain balance and perspective in his personal and professional life.
