Dr. DeJarnette received her bachelors of science degree from Michigan State University in E. Lansing, MI. She obtained her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Dr. DeJarnette completed her general psychiatry residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans. She also completed her child psychiatry and forensic psychiatry fellowships in New Orleans at Tulane University Medical Center. She is board certified in general, child and forensic psychiatry.

Dr. DeJarnette has worked in a number of settings which include inpatient units, outpatient clinics, forensic clinics, HIV clinics, juvenile justice centers, jails, emergency rooms, schools, ICU’s, mobile crisis and mental health emergency centers. Additionally, she has held administrative positions including Medical Director of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team of Harris County and Deputy Medical Director of JSA Telepsychiatry. She also has extensive telepsychiatry experience. She started seeing patients through video in 2008. Dr. DeJarnette treats all psychiatric illnesses for all ages to include but not limited to depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder ADHD, PTSD and autism. Her forensic training qualifies her to be a psychiatric expert witness. Dr. DeJarnette is a warm and caring doctor. She believes in treating each patient with a holistic approach. She has been practicing psychiatry for over 20 years.
