Chris Bermant, MD, is dedicated to helping adults and seniors in Wisconsin manage a wide range of mental health concerns through a combination of individual therapy and medication management. He specializes in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis, providing tailored care for each patient’s unique needs. Whether patients are navigating the complexities of PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or the emotional impact of grief, Chris brings a compassionate and clinically informed approach to support them in their healing journey. A particular focus of Chris’s practice is working with individuals recently discharged from psychiatric hospitals, offering critical follow-up care to ensure stability and progress. He is passionate about helping patients reintegrate into their daily lives after hospitalization, guiding them through ongoing recovery with the support they need. Chris also works with individuals on the autism spectrum and those with developmental disabilities, making sure to create an inclusive and understanding environment for all his patients. In addition to his expertise in mental health conditions, Chris is committed to serving specialized populations, including first responders, military veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community. His approach is informed by a deep understanding of the unique stressors and challenges these groups may face, and he works collaboratively with each patient to develop strategies that promote resilience and mental well-being. Outside of his practice, Chris enjoys staying active with his Peloton and finds relaxation in reading Charles Dickens novels. He also loves spending time outdoors, especially camping, which helps him recharge and maintain balance in his personal life.

I found Dr. Bermant to be a very personable and caring confidante who helped me through two very traumatic phases of my life when experiencing life challenging events. I am very thankful for all he and his team at UW Health-Behavioral Health have done to support my need to be treated with dignity and respect, to listen and counsel me when I need a dose of courage, and to continue to prescribe the meds that have allowed me to maintain my mental, spiritual and physical health, and restore my family and work relationships. With his help I have learned to not just survive, but truly thrive over the past seven years! I wish him all the best as he transitions into his new practice.

He's done a great job finding the right medications despite my difficult history. He's very collaborative and always asks for my opinions. He always makes sure to give several suggestions to insure we're on the same page in terms of treatment. He's also very caring on a personal level--I wish I could have therapy with him as well as medication counseling.

Have seen Dr. Bermant for about a year now. He's been thoughtful and engaged during appointments, which I did not expect from a psychiatrist. I've been able to ask questions and express concerns as needed, and treatment has felt collaborative. Would, and have, recommended him to folks.

I felt heard, seen, and acknowledged for the first time. He listens, he takes into consideration your personal preferences, and truly hears you out. Felt at ease telling him embarrassing things. No judgement in those man’s eyes.
