Dr. Dean Given works with individuals, couples, families, employers and the court. He provides brief treatment that is goal-directed and solution-focused. While treating a wide variety of problems, he has sub-specialized in the treatment of anxiety disorders. He has given many presentations on various topics including stress, anxiety and anger management, shame, parenting, parent/adolescent conflict, marriage enrichment and the integration of faith and psychology.

Dr. Given is a past-president of the California Psychological Association and the Santa Barbara County Psychological Association. He is on Active Staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and is a past chairman of the Department of Adolescent/Child Psychiatry. He has been in practice as a psychologist in Santa Barbara since 1984. He has a diverse psychology practice in which he provides psychotherapy, psychological assessment and consultation services.

Dr. Given earned his PhD and master’s degrees from the Fuller Graduate School of Psychology after completing his undergraduate work at California State University, Los Angeles.
