Rae DeBehnke, MA, LCPC,
About Rae DeBehnke
I offer a calm and comforting therapeutic space for those who have experienced institutional and relational harm and trauma. Informed by Relational, depth-based, Existential, and Somatic therapeutic practices, I work side by side with clients to help them heal acute experiences of disconnection and alienation both within the context of their relationships with themselves, as well as in their relationships with others.
I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent and Queer people, and people living with substance and process addictions, chronic pain/ illness, complex and ambivalent grief, and complex and accumulative Trauma. I also find myself working with those who are interested in spirituality, but not necessarily religion, or those who are spiritually curious or open. At the same time, I regard therapy as a space to talk about reverent things irreverently. I value humor as part of the therapeutic process, as well as honor the role humor plays in helping people to cope with and heal from experiences of adversity and suffering.
I think of healing not as a straight line, but rather, a return, a remembering, and reconnection with parts of oneself that have been exiled, so that these may be named, witnessed, and integrated.
