We live in a confusing world. We spend our lives bombarded by contradicting messages about who we are supposed to be. Now, with social media, those messages have become weaponized. But at the center, each of us is a singular human being with unique needs and desires. In therapy, every client seems to arrive at the same question: who am I, exactly, and what is this whole “happiness” thing everyone keeps going on about?

Depression and anxiety are symptoms of imbalances we are experiencing on a not so conscious level. In therapy, we figure out what those are, and sort them out. Each of us has an optimal path, and our mission in life, whether we know it or not, is finding that path. The closer we get to the path, the better we feel.

Just living in this rapidly evolving world is challenging in and of itself, and when you throw the regular vicissitudes of life into the mix, it becomes overwhelming. Thankfully, the stigma around seeing a “shrink” seems to have been relegated to the dustbin of history.
