About Mayra Zavalza (She/Her)

Mayra Zavalza, LMFT, helps children, teens, and adults across California heal from trauma, navigate emotional challenges, and reclaim their sense of self. Practicing at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy to clients ages 6 and up, creating a supportive and culturally sensitive environment where healing and growth are possible. With a warm and grounded approach, Mayra supports individuals working through anxiety, depression, gender identity exploration, and post-partum mental health challenges.

Mayra specializes in treating trauma and PTSD, particularly as it relates to childhood abuse, intimate partner violence, and family violence. Her work is deeply informed by the complexities of these experiences and the lasting impact they can have on a person’s emotional and relational well-being. She works with clients to process their trauma safely and gradually, offering evidence-based interventions like Exposure Therapy and trauma-focused techniques that foster resilience, clarity, and a renewed sense of empowerment.

As a bilingual, first-generation Latina therapist, Mayra is passionate about serving underrepresented populations, including the LGBTQ+ community, women, and military veterans. She also offers gender-affirmative medical readiness evaluations and parenting support, tailoring her work to meet each client’s specific needs and goals. Her therapeutic style blends psychodynamic understanding with neuroscience-informed care, allowing clients to build insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful change.

Outside of her work, Mayra finds joy in life’s simple pleasures—coffee and hot sauce being two of her favorites. Her authentic, human approach to therapy is shaped by her values of empathy, compassion, and cultural humility.
