Danielle Sumida is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who has been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2016. She graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a Master’s degree in Social Work, with a specialty in Integrated Health. Danielle believes in approaching therapy using a mixture of different theoretical orientations including: psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment-based theory, and family systems theory. She uses these theories in conjunction with other treatment modalities such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and processing thoughts and feelings using the “here and now” approach. She also enjoys incorporating other types of helpful techniques such as grounding and mindfulness, and encouraging a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle for her clients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her pets, playing beach volleyball, exploring the outdoors, drinking a great cup of coffee, and enjoying anything Disney-related. She writes: As humans, we all share in the universal experience of pain, heartache, and grief, but we are each individuals with our own unique personalities, passions, needs, and desires. I work hard to make sure my clients are seen and heard distinctly for their individuality (what makes them unique), while also reminding them that they are not alone on their journey. I believe that true healing is not merely a result of what the therapist alone brings to session, but as a result of the beautiful connection and foundational relationship that is formed between therapist and client through safety, trust, stability, consistency, and vulnerability. I understand that to be truly seen, heard, and accepted for who we are, as we are, allows for the best type of healing work to take place. I look forward to meeting with you to work together to find your voice, cultivate hope, and promote self-awareness, growth, and peace.
