When you first engage with Doug, you’ll experience his open-hearted and easy nature. With a sense of curiosity and a genuine sense of humor, Doug’s goal in his counseling practice is to aid others in finding their authentic selves amidst the many challenges in life. Doug has over 12 years of experience working with individuals, adolescents and couples. He relishes the balance of staying present in the moment while also helping clients take steps to see their lives from a wider perspective. Whether this is working with a family system, someone who has suffered with a traumatic past, or a teenager who is simply trying to make sense of their growing sense of self, Doug draws upon multiple therapeutic techniques to support and challenge his clients. Doug has been working in the mental health field professionally since graduating with his Masters of Clinical Mental Health from Denver Seminary. He has worked in day treatment programs, home-based family therapy, private practice clinics and as a Treatment Director for a Treatment Foster Care program. Prior to this, Doug’s experience has been with many different types of work and education – including earning an engineering degree and serving in the USAF, volunteering with local art venues and receiving a graduate education that focused on clinical skills and spiritual values. This mix of experience and education allows Doug to identify with a wide swath of people easily, as well as allowing him to approach problems with a blend of empathy and analysis. Both Doug and LifeStance Health consider it an honor to get the chance to work with you.
