Melissa Houseman, LCSW
Melissa Houseman, LCSW, helps individuals, couples, and families in Florida find meaningful healing and lasting change. She provides a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore life’s challenges and develop skills to create greater emotional balance and resilience. Melissa works collaboratively with adolescents, adults, and seniors, guiding them through issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma with compassion and practical strategies. Melissa is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate recovery from trauma, post-partum depression and anxiety, and substance use issues. She understands that these experiences can deeply affect one’s sense of identity, relationships, and daily life. Using evidence-based techniques like EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions, she helps clients process difficult experiences, build healthier coping mechanisms, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and peace. Melissa also integrates faith-based and Christian counseling when requested, offering a holistic approach that supports emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Her clinical expertise extends to helping those coping with life transitions, grief, and relationship challenges. Melissa is currently expanding her training in the Gottman Method and EMDR to deepen her work with couples and trauma survivors. She also has experience supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, women navigating life changes, and military veterans adjusting to civilian life. Melissa believes that therapy is most effective when it honors each person’s individuality and lived experience. Her approach emphasizes self-compassion, mindfulness, and empowerment, helping clients cultivate a sense of control and confidence in their journey toward wellness. Outside of her clinical work, Melissa practices mindfulness meditation, which informs her grounded and present therapeutic style. She brings that same sense of calm and attentiveness into her sessions, helping clients feel seen and supported. Melissa Houseman provides in-person and virtual therapy for clients throughout Florida.
