Alex Sinsmyr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maine who has been practicing since 2021. She holds a BA in Counseling Psychology from Delaware Valley University and a MSW from the University of New England. Alex was born and raised in the state of Maine which gives her an inside perspective of the needs of the people in her state/community. She is grounded in the biopsychosocial theory of practice, which means understanding that all facets of people are important when working and treating them. Alex focuses heavily on building a solid and trusting relationship with her clients through empathetic, active listening, humor, and finding the strengths in her clients. Her relationship with her clients is the most important factor of whether treatment will be successful. Alex has an eclectic approach to treatment which allows her to be flexible to the needs of her clients. Outside of work, Alex enjoys crafts including crocheting, embroidery, and diamond art, relaxing near a body of water, taking walks with her dogs and family, reading a good book, playing video games, binging good TV shows, and trying new food, especially in Portland.
