John Kidney, LCSW,
About John Kidney (He/Him)
Therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or impersonal. John believes the best work happens when people feel comfortable enough to fully be themselves.
John’s approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. He believes therapy is a real relationship where clients can expect honesty, curiosity, humor, and meaningful conversations. While therapy can involve difficult topics, it should also feel human. His goal is to create a space where people feel accepted, supported, and challenged to grow.
John primarily works with adults who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they want to be living. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, self-confidence, or simply trying to figure out your next chapter in life, therapy will help you reconnect with what matters most and take meaningful action toward it.
At the heart of John’s work is helping people build greater self-acceptance, resilience, and awareness of how their thoughts, emotions, and experiences shape their lives. Together, you’ll explore what’s getting in the way, clarify your values, and develop practical ways to move toward a life that feels more fulfilling, connected, and authentic.
John is especially passionate about helping people navigate major life transitions, including divorce or separation, becoming a parent, starting college, graduating into the workforce, career changes, and other periods of uncertainty. He also enjoys working with parents who want to raise resilient, emotionally healthy children while becoming the kind of parent they want to be.
John works with adults of all genders and provides an affirming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals. He primarily offers individual therapy for adults ages 18 to 45 and also works with adolescents, couples, and families on a case-by-case basis.
His approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness. Rather than trying to fit clients into one model, John tailors therapy to each person’s goals, strengths, and experiences.
If you’re looking for a therapist who values authenticity, believes in real conversations, and wants to help you build a life that feels meaningful, John would be honored to be part of your journey.
