Jamie Castillo is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan who has been practicing since graduating from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2013. Jamie first graduated from GVSU’s teacher education program in 2010 as she discovered during her teaching internships that she had a particular fondness for building relationships and supporting the well-being of others. Jamie found her calling as an intern therapist for survivors at a domestic violence shelter supporting women and children in transition. Jamie has experience working with all ages and experiences but has a particular connection with women’s issues, burn out prevention, trauma-informed parenting and supporting survivors of intimate partner violence. Jamie believes in a humanistic and person-centered approach so that people can be fully authentic to explore their paths without the fear of judgment. In her career Jamie has worked as a home-based family therapist, individual outpatient therapist, and has co-led a trauma-informed parenting group, specializing in CBT, DBT, EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy,TF-CBT, Narrative, and has used expressive arts therapies to support people in achieving their goals.

Outside of the office Jamie enjoys being outside for hiking, hammocking, bon fires, and spending time with loved ones. Jamie is a fan of most genres of music, art, food, and being a cat mom.
