Stephan Baker, LPC

Stephan Baker earned an undergraduate from University of Louisville Ky in Psychology, Master’s from Missouri Baptist University in Counseling and a doctorate in Healthcare and Leadership from Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha, NE. Stephan is currently completing a second doctorate and currently in a PsyD program at Cal Southern University.

Stephan has a vast amount of military experience and was trained at Jefferson Barracks VA hospital working with combat veterans. Stephan works with all types of trauma related victims from any degree of severity. He is currently an active-duty Army Lieutenant Colonel and retires in November 2023 as the Provost Marshal. His primary intervention/treatment modality is EMDR & VIR (visual imaging replacement), integrating and utilizing this treatment modality with those experiencing past and present traumatic experiences and dissociation. Stephan also specializes in suicide prevention/intervention, focusing on adolescents and adults who experience depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and anger-management issues. Stephan’s therapeutic approach is to educate clients before, during and after the EMDR/therapeutic process, giving them the tools to cope and sustain increased levels of resiliency and to eliminate defense mechanisms/barriers so the individual can have a better chance for self-actualization and to reach maximum potential. His therapeutic specialties include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Integrative Psychology, and is EMDR certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Stephan also specializes in parts/Ego state therapy dealing with dissociation and DID patients.

Outside of work, Stephan enjoys cycling, golfing, and exercising.

See what our patients are saying about Stephan Baker

My oldest child on the spectrum couldn’t say anything great about past psychologists, before he met Dr. Stephen Baker. Mr. Baker is wonderful at his job, he served our country honorably, and he uses the EMDR technique to help you process through anything that’s bothering you, and even past traumas. His approach may not be for everyone, like myself, but he is the kind of doctor my child needs, and I would do anything to help my child. My son will keep going to the appointments as long as he doesn’t feel like a burden and/or as long as he’s feeling heard by him. Everyone has bad days and I always try to remind my son of that, and that others are human, too. Maybe he’s just having a bad day. The only issues I personally have is how much he answers his texts during appointments and I didn’t even notice that, until my child brought it to my attention. Their hour isn’t a full hour if you’re being told to hold on every couple of multiple times. I want him to try harder to show my child that he isn’t aggravated with him during sessions, even on his bad days, and cares about his mental wellbeing. All in all I would suggest him to my friends because of the way he deals with my child on the spectrum. He’s a nice man and deserves the recognition!

Stephan Baker is by far the best of the best! I’ve taken hundreds of medications, done every treatment modality there is, seen multiple different therapists, and truthfully lost hope until I met this amazing man! When I was on the verge of suicide, he came into my life and saved me. This is not an understatement, Stephan understands the human body and mind inside and out. He truly investigates with what he’s doing, he doesn’t look at you as merely someone to have a pill thrown at, he genuinely takes the time to connect the dots and find the best treatment options for you to have a successful and fulfilling life and get your life back on track. When you feel as if you’ve lost hope, this man’s intelligence level will figure out the issue I 100% guarantee you that, when no other provider has been able to figure out what’s been going wrong with you, mark my word, he will!

My best friend experienced transformational results doing EMDR treatment with Stephan so I decided to try it myself. I had gone through some major trauma as a teenager and reprocessing it with Stephan helped me to see exactly how I carried that trauma forward into adulthood and into my marriage. I was a people-pleaser with no boundaries and I didn't respect myself. All that has changed for the better and I am able to talk about my traumatic event without becoming emotional. I show up in the world better, at home and at work. A better version of me is present now, and it's awesome. Life changing is almost an understatement when it comes to describing therapy with Stephan.

Excellent clinician. Stephan is knowledgeable, experienced, respectful, and present. I feel valued and supported in each session. My traumatic experiences have less impact on my life. I have previous experience with EMDR, and Stephan is the most effective person I've had as an EMDR therapist. Truly, the best. I'm grateful for Stephan's hard work and sincerity. I got lucky finding him. Hope has transmuted into reality working with this man. He's genuinely motivated to help others make lasting changes.

I had a wonderful experience with Stephan Baker. He was very kind and knowledgeable. We worked together for three months. I had some childhood experiences that were triggering me. After our EMDR sessions, I am no longer thrown off base by my family drama. I am truly grateful.
