Melissa Carmean helps adults across Missouri navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions through compassionate, evidence-based therapy at LifeStance Health. She provides individual therapy in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where patients can openly explore challenges, build emotional resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies. Melissa works with adults experiencing stress related to relationships, grief, women’s mental health concerns, and transitions throughout different stages of life.

Melissa is especially passionate about supporting individuals who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and are working toward stability and recovery. She understands that this period can feel overwhelming and emotionally exhausting, and she focuses on helping patients regain confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create sustainable routines that support long-term mental wellness. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, emotional safety, and practical tools that patients can apply in everyday life.

Her clinical approach incorporates evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques. Melissa has experience treating concerns related to PTSD and trauma, alcohol and drug use issues, grief, postpartum depression and anxiety, and medical or health-related psychological concerns. She also works with populations including women, military veterans, first responders, and LGBTQ+ individuals, while offering support for a wide range of additional mental health needs.

Since beginning her clinical practice in 2018, Melissa has remained dedicated to helping patients feel empowered in their healing process. She believes therapy should provide a safe and collaborative space where individuals can gain insight, improve self-esteem, and move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Outside of her clinical work, Melissa enjoys running, hiking, and fostering animals. She values maintaining balance and wellness in her own life and encourages patients to find meaningful ways to care for both their emotional and physical health.
