About Andrew Barber (He/Him)

John Barber, LMFT, helps teens, adults, couples, and families across North Carolina build practical skills for managing life’s most difficult emotional and relational challenges. As a Marriage & Family Therapist with LifeStance Health, he provides evidence-based mental health treatment for adolescents (11+), teens, adults, and seniors navigating anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Serving individuals and families throughout NC, John offers individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy designed to foster lasting growth, resilience, and healthier relationships. John has particular expertise in treating anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and ADHD. He works with clients facing panic, excessive worry, low mood, inattention, and behavioral concerns, helping them develop coping strategies rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Therapy. For couples experiencing conflict or disconnection, he integrates couples and marital counseling techniques to strengthen communication and rebuild trust. He also supports families seeking parenting skills and structured interventions to address childhood behavior issues and school avoidance. In addition to his core specialties, John has experience supporting military members and veterans, first responders, and individuals with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. He understands the unique stressors these populations face and tailors treatment plans to align with each client’s goals and values. For those seeking a faith-integrated approach, he offers Christian counseling and faith-based treatment when desired, blending clinical best practices with spiritual sensitivity. John approaches therapy as a collaborative process grounded in respect, warmth, and clear, goal-oriented care. He began practicing in 2013 and earned his graduate education at Liberty University. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys creating and making music, collecting and reviewing performance basketball shoes, hiking, and spending time with his family and their dog, Bear.
