Allison Herman, LPC,
About Allison Herman (She/Her)
Helping teens, adults, and older adults navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience, Allison Herman provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy through LifeStance Health for patients across New Jersey. She works collaboratively with clients to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma while creating a supportive space where healing, self-discovery, and meaningful growth can occur. Allison offers individual, couples, and family therapy tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. Allison is especially skilled in helping clients manage emotional distress, strengthen coping strategies, and improve their overall quality of life. She understands that mental health concerns can affect relationships, work, self-esteem, and daily functioning, and she helps clients identify practical tools to create lasting change. In addition to her primary areas of expertise, she supports individuals facing a range of emotional and life challenges, including gender identity concerns and women’s mental health needs. A significant focus of Allison’s work is supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals exploring gender identity. She is committed to providing affirming, respectful care that honors each person’s lived experience and personal journey. Through a warm and nonjudgmental approach, she helps clients build self-acceptance, navigate transitions, and develop strategies for emotional well-being in a way that aligns with their values and goals. Her therapeutic style integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while drawing from additional evidence-based approaches when appropriate. Allison believes therapy is most effective when it combines clinical expertise with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and authenticity. Allison earned degrees from Fordham University and Montclair State University. Outside of her clinical practice, she enjoys ice skating and painting, activities that reflect her appreciation for creativity, balance, and personal expression.
