Arlene earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree at Bloomfield College in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She then obtained her Master of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology and Counseling at Saint Elizabeth University. After receiving her Master’s degree, she decided to further her education and pursue two post graduate certifications at Montclair State University in Alcohol and Drug Counseling and Advanced Counseling. Arlene believes that having a collaborative, strong therapeutic relationship brings positive therapy outcomes. Her therapy approach begins with building a rapport with the client and creating a supportive, authentic, non-judgmental and comfortable atmosphere where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, in which she utilizes a person-centered approach. She believes it’s about providing that motivation and encouragement to clients knowing that they can achieve their goals and find purpose in their life. Also, helping clients establish new healthy patterns of behaviors, increasing their self-awareness and understanding. Every client should be treated as a unique individual worthy of unconditional acceptance regardless of their life circumstances, and her goal is to tailor the therapeutic techniques and approaches specifically to meet clients’ individual treatment needs. In her spare time, Arlene enjoys listening to music, reading and staying active by exercising. Also, she loves traveling to different countries and experiencing new cultures as well as spending time with friends and family.
