Julia Mathew, LCSW,
About Julia Mathew (She/Her)
At LifeStance Health, Julia Mathew helps adolescents, teens, and adults navigate emotional challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. Serving patients throughout New York, she provides individual therapy in a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Julia works with individuals facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, while also offering support for a range of additional mental health needs. Julia is deeply committed to helping clients better understand themselves and develop practical tools for managing everyday stressors and life transitions. Her therapeutic style combines compassion with evidence-based care, allowing clients to explore their experiences while building skills that support long-term emotional well-being. She tailors treatment to each individual’s unique goals, strengths, and circumstances. A particular area of passion for Julia is working with individuals experiencing ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD/trauma. She understands how these challenges can affect relationships, self-esteem, academic or professional functioning, and overall quality of life. Through a thoughtful and personalized approach, she helps clients identify patterns, develop coping strategies, and build confidence as they move toward healing and personal growth. Julia incorporates evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques. She also has experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community and women, and offers support for concerns beyond her primary specialties, including mood disorders, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She earned her education from Stony Brook University and Fordham University, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical social work and mental health treatment. Outside of her clinical work, Julia enjoys exploring new places, learning about history, discovering new music, and reading. Her curiosity about different cultures and people’s experiences enriches her work as a therapist. She is also passionate about advocacy, equity, and fostering spaces where individuals feel valued, respected, and understood.
