About Shemica Outlaw (She/Her)
At LifeStance Health, Shemica Outlaw helps adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults throughout New York navigate life’s challenges with confidence, resilience, and support. She provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, helping them develop practical coping skills and make meaningful progress toward their personal goals. Shemica believes that therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, respect, and genuine connection, creating a space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Shemica is particularly passionate about working with individuals involved in complex family and legal circumstances, including court-ordered treatment, parental custody matters, current legal concerns, and disability-related documentation needs. She understands that these situations can be emotionally overwhelming and often intersect with mental health challenges, relationship stress, and major life transitions. Her approach focuses on providing thoughtful support while helping patients navigate these circumstances with clarity and confidence. With expertise in anxiety, depression, and ADHD, Shemica works closely with patients to identify patterns that may be affecting their emotional well-being and daily functioning. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family therapy, and parenting skills interventions to help patients develop healthier thought patterns, strengthen relationships, and build effective coping strategies. In addition to these areas of focus, she has experience supporting individuals with a variety of additional mental health concerns and life challenges. Shemica values providing culturally responsive care that recognizes each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals. She works with diverse populations, including members of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals involved with adoption and foster care systems. Whether a patient is seeking support for emotional concerns, relationship difficulties, grief, substance use challenges, or major life transitions, she strives to deliver care that is personalized and meaningful. Outside of her clinical practice, Shemica enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new cultures, cooking, and spending time with family. She is passionate about wellness, lifelong learning, self-care, and personal growth, interests that reinforce her belief in maintaining balance and continued development throughout life. Shemica earned her degree from The College of New Rochelle and began practicing in 2026. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, she is committed to providing high-quality mental health care grounded in compassion, professionalism, and clinical excellence.
