Gibelle Acosta, LCSW
Copilot said: At LifeStance Health, Gibelle Acosta helps children, adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults throughout New York navigate life’s challenges with confidence, clarity, and support. She provides individual and family therapy in a warm, collaborative environment where clients can feel heard, respected, and empowered. Gibelle works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns, helping them develop practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and make meaningful progress toward their goals. Gibelle has a strong passion for supporting children, teens, and families experiencing childhood behavior issues and school avoidance. She understands how emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges can affect a young person’s self-esteem, family dynamics, and overall well-being. By partnering closely with both children and caregivers, she helps families improve communication, build healthy routines, and create supportive environments that promote growth and resilience. Her therapeutic style is personalized and grounded in evidence-based care. Gibelle incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), while drawing from additional therapeutic approaches when appropriate. She has experience helping clients manage anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, as well as additional concerns such as grief, life transitions, reproductive challenges, and women’s mental health issues. She also works with diverse populations, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, military veterans, and first responders. As a bilingual therapist, Gibelle provides services in Spanish, helping increase access to culturally responsive mental health care for individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. She believes that therapy should honor each person’s unique experiences, values, and strengths, and she strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where healing and personal growth can occur. Gibelle earned her education from Hunter College and Susquehanna University. Since beginning her clinical practice in 2019, she has remained committed to helping clients build resilience and achieve lasting emotional wellness through compassionate, client-centered care. Outside of her work, Gibelle enjoys playing the piano, exploring arts and crafts, and spending time in nature. These interests reflect her appreciation for creativity, mindfulness, and balance, which she often encourages clients to cultivate in their own lives.
