Michelle E. Anderson is an LPCC-S (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Status) and has been practicing since 2007. Michelle initially graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education from Walsh University and taught Second grade for 10 years prior to returning to college for a Maters of Arts in Community Counseling at The University of Akron. While working on her PhD, Michelle taught Masters level classes at John Carroll University and The University of Akron in issues with sexuality and group counseling theories and practices.

Michelle believes in the philosophy and theory surrounding utilizing Play Therapy to process through difficult emotions as well as child trauma. She has sought out additional training in Trauma Focused CBT and utilizes those skills when working with all types of children. Her main area of focus is working with children between the ages of 4-6 on building their feelings vocabulary and nurturing them to feel comfortable in expressing their feelings through words/art instead of negative behaviors. Michelle has been an active member of The Incredible Years program and has co-lead groups for small children as well as for the adult caregivers.

In her spare time, Michelle enjoys taking walks with her Labrador Retriever named Connor and reading by the fireplace. She also enjoys spending time on Sanibel Island where her family’s condo is located. Michelle believes there is nothing more grounding than a sunrise over the ocean and walks on the beach, looking for the perfect shell.
