Paul Carlson, MSW, LCSW,
About Paul Carlson (He/Him)
At LifeStance Health, Paul Carlson helps adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults work through emotional challenges, relationship concerns, and life transitions with a thoughtful, collaborative approach to therapy. Serving patients throughout Pennsylvania, he provides evidence-based mental health care for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns while also supporting a broad range of additional behavioral health needs. Paul believes meaningful therapy starts with understanding the whole person, not just the symptoms they are experiencing. He creates a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can safely explore challenges, gain insight into unhelpful patterns, and build practical skills for long-term growth. Through individual therapy, group therapy, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), he works with clients at various stages of their mental health journey. Paul has a particular focus on helping individuals living with anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma. He recognizes how these concerns can affect relationships, physical health, career performance, self-esteem, and overall quality of life. His goal is to help clients develop resilience, strengthen coping abilities, and move toward a greater sense of balance and fulfillment. In addition to these areas, he provides support for a variety of other mental health conditions and challenges. His therapeutic approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based interventions. He also incorporates additional evidence-based strategies to meet each client’s unique needs. Paul has experience working with diverse populations, including military members and veterans, and understands the importance of tailoring treatment to each individual’s background, goals, and experiences. Paul earned his education through West Chester University and has dedicated his career to helping individuals develop healthier ways of managing emotional distress, navigating life changes, and improving overall well-being. He approaches treatment with empathy, clinical expertise, and a commitment to helping clients create lasting change. Outside of his professional work, Paul enjoys board and card games, fitness activities, and reading. These interests reflect his appreciation for lifelong learning, meaningful connection, and maintaining a healthy balance between mental and physical wellness.
