Ms. Jiao Shen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist (BC-DMT). She obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling from Drexel University in Pennsylvania, USA, as well as a Master’s degree in Education in Shanghai, China. Ms. Shen explored different populations, settings, and diagnoses during her practice. They include a population with behavior, substance abuse, or disabled issues. Also, there is a wide range of the diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, schizophrenia, and so on. Her training growth and personal assimilation experience guided Ms. Shen to use an integrated theoretical approach with a psychodynamic and humanistic perspective. She is also a bilingual therapist, who’s originally from China. From her personal and working experience, Ms. Shen understands that when people must adapt to a new culture, dynamic, social, mental, or physical status, it’s common to feel vulnerable and insecure. She sees herself as an interpreter who provides empathy as a language to communicate, a helper who can enhance the individual’s adaptive functioning, and a bridge to finding their connection of mind, body, and spirit. Ms. Shen has professional experience in working with children and adults, both in individual and group sessions. She is passionate about providing evidence-based counseling to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual, for the purpose of improving health and well-being. Outside of work, Ms. Shen cherishes spending quality time with her kids and family, indulging in her love for dancing, and finding solace in her spiritual belief.
