Katie Cummings helps children, teens, and adults across Rhode Island work through life’s challenges with warmth, clinical skill, and a collaborative approach. She provides individual therapy designed to support patients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional or behavioral concerns. By creating a safe and nonjudgmental space, Katie empowers her patients to build coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and discover new ways to move forward. Katie has extensive experience supporting patients managing ADHD, PTSD/trauma, and grief, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each individual. She frequently integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices to help patients shift thought patterns, reduce distress, and build meaningful connections between thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Her approach is flexible and goal-oriented, allowing her to meet patients where they are and guide them toward growth at a pace that feels right. She is particularly passionate about working with at-risk youth, individuals with experiences of adoption or foster care, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Katie values creating an affirming and supportive therapeutic environment that recognizes the complex challenges these groups may face, while highlighting their strengths and resilience. Outside of her clinical work, Katie’s personality is a blend of cozy and energetic. She loves curling up with a book, fitting in sunrise spin classes, and enjoying naps with her husky, Ghost, by her side. Family game nights are one of her favorite ways to unwind, and she has a soft spot for the Grinch, appreciating the reminder that even the hardest hearts can change with love and connection.
