Therapist in Prosper, TX Kristie M. Keeling, LPC-A

Kristie M. Keeling, LPC-A

Kristie Keeling is supervised by Kacey Vasquez, LPC-S. Earning a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in play therapy from the University of North Texas at Dallas. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the International Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society. With over 15 years of experience working one on one with children prior to graduate school, Kristie developed a passion early on for child development and play therapy. Specializing in kids from the ages of two to sixteen with learning and developmental disabilities such as ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. Kristie always works LGBTQ, low self-esteem, Anger outbursts, depression, anxiety, and general life changes. In today’s world, parenting is a harder job than ever. On top of that, children are developmentally unable to sit down and tell adults exactly what is wrong and why. Implementing a child’s first language of play helps to unlock this communication barrier and allow kids to communicate in the way that feels the most natural to them. Using play makes counseling fun and enjoyable instead of feeling like a chore. Kristie applies techniques within Child Centered Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to better cater to each unique child that enters the playroom. Striving to ensure that each child feels safe and in control during their own healing process. When not in the playroom, Kristie enjoys the creative arts and is a self-taught artist who first started painting landscapes with acrylics. Completing a large sunset beach landscape for her older sister that took six years to finish. Gifting another to her former internship site, Mosaic Family Services, upon graduating from her counseling program. Recently, expanding her creative outlets to learning digital art mediums and drawing portraits. Education: Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, University of North Texas at Dallas Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies with Minor in Psychology, Dallas Baptist University
