Dr. Holly Hargreaves-Cormany is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia and a graduate of Doctoral (The George Washington University) and Masters Degree (Marymount University) Programs in Counseling and she also holds a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology (Marymount University). Holly has experience working in settings such as: Private Practice, School Psychology, Home-Based and Crisis Counseling, University Counseling Clinics, and Animal Assisted Therapy Programs. She has published research articles and other publications on Therapeutic Horseback Riding and various issues in counseling and forensic psychology as well as contributed to a book on Equine Assisted Counseling. Holly presents her research at national and international conferences. Holly is familiar with many therapeutic techniques and draws from the one that is most relevant to the client. She prefers Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy and Narrative Therapy theories such as the view that the problem is separate from the person; that is the belief that the client is not the problem, yet the problem is the problem. As a clinician, she meets the client where he or she is, and together they create collaborative goals based on each client’s individual needs. Holly uses a holistic approach to treatment and incorporates her expertise in using innovative and creative counseling techniques to help clients make positive therapeutic change. Holly’s primary objective as your counselor is to work together with you to achieve therapeutic goals which enable you to be as healthy and happy as possible.
